Chinese Mustard Sauce

1 cup vinegar
1 cup sugar
2 tablespoon soy sauce
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1 tablespoon grated ginger root or
1 teaspoon dry ginger powder
1 tablespoon dry mustard
Bring to a boil vinegar, sugar, salt and soy sauce. Mix cornstarch and dry mustard in 1/2 cup cold water. Stir in and cook until it thickens. Grate in ginger root (or dry ginger). Serve hot or cold.
