Abalone – A Popular Ingredient In Chinese Recipes

Abalone is otherwise referred to as 鲍鱼 (Bàoyú) in Chinese. It is considered important in China because the Chinese believe that it brings good luck and plenty of good things for the rest of the year. So, the Chinese use Abalone, which is a term used to denote a group of small and large sea snails right during the Chinese New Year. Even, they believe that an abalone recipe is a must-have item during the New Year celebrations. Even, as they believe it to bring good fortune, they use it in preparing delicacies during celebrations and family dinners like weddings. Also, the Chinese like it as they compare it with chewing gum due to its texture.

When it comes to preparing Chinese abalone recipes, the most preferable method is to slice it thinly. Then, you can gently pound the slices even thinner for breaking the muscles.  In turn, you can get flavorful and rich pieces. The other method you can follow is to fry abalone in a little butter on both sides for about two minutes per side. Otherwise, you can also shuck and break them. Then, you can pound, slice and saute them. Finally, you can give a finishing touch by squeezing some lemon. Irrespective of the method of cooking you use, make sure that the abalone is fresh.
