Bean Curd – The Ingredient With Traditional Value In China

Chinese Bean Curd recipes are gaining popularity across the world. It is known as Tofu in China. Studies show that it was used in Han Dynasty in China between 220 BC and 220 AD. Nevertheless, it turned into a popular food in China only after the Song Dynasty that lasted between 960 and 1279 AD. In China, tofu is traditionally used as a food offering when people visit the graves of their deceased family members or relatives. The reason is that they believe that spirits last long with their jaws and chins. They believe that as tofu is soft spirits can easily eat it.

You might be aware that you can get tofu from Soy milk. It is produced by following a similar process as cheese is produced from regular milk. To get tofu, you will have to coagulate soy milk. Then, you should press the resulting curd into blocks. You can use it in easy bean curd recipes as it contains little fat. But, it is rich in iron, calcium, and protein. Tofu can also be obtained from the store in different consistencies. For instance, extra firm bean curd can be used in dishes like kung pao tofu, General Tso tofu, and crispy tofu with garlic sauce.
