Fried Chop Rice Cake Recipe

The Chinese name of Fried Chop Rice Cake is Rolling donkey(LvDaGun). It is a traditional snack in the northern part of China, such as Peking and Tianjin. The cake has 3 bright color-yellow, white and red. Since it is topped with soybean flour, which is like the dust of a rolling donkey on the ground, so traditional people name it as the rolling donkey.

Kitchen Tips

1. When fry soybean powder, only use low heat to fry and stir constantly to prevent burnt.

2. If not eat up, seal to prevent drying. Before storing, sprinkle soybean powder on the cut to prevent sticking together.

Pour glutinous rice powder into a pot. Add some water and knead to a dough. Then roll the dough into a round cake shape.

Use a plate, brush a thin layer of sesame oil, put on the round cake dough.

Add water to a steamer. When water is boiling, steam the dough. Steam for 5 minutes, then switch to low heat to steam for another 10-15 minutes.

Preheat a frypan, pour into soybean powder. Use small heat to fry until light brown. Evenly spread on a cutting board. Let it cool. Set aside.

Take out the steamed round dough. Allow cooling. When it is still warm, use cling film to wrap the steamed dough. And roll into about 0.5 cm thick thin.

Spread red bean paste evenly on the glutinous rice dough. Put the dough on the rice flour on the soybean powder. Roll from one side to the other side. Then cut into small strips.
