Rose Rice Cake Recipe

    Rose Rice Cake (MeiGuiJingGao) is a Xian dessert. Its shape looks like a mirror, that’s why we named it mirror cake. The cake is delicate, it has a nutty aroma, rose fragrance and a comfortable smell of glutinous rice.

    Kitchen Tips

    1. You can serve the rose rice cake with white sugar if you like sweet desserts.

    2. After spreading rose sauce, add walnuts, sesame, sunflower seed, dried fruit if you desire.

    Add glutinous rice and rice into a food processor. Blender into powder. Remove to a bowl. Set aside.

    Gradually add water into the rice powder mixture while stirring. Do not add too much water, add water until all rice powder is wet and not to be a paste.

    Brush round mold with a layer of thin oil.  Scoop and stuff with the rice powder.

    Add some water to the pot, bring to a boil. Steam the mold for 5 minutes. Turn off the heat and take out the mold.

    Remove the cake from the mold with a toothpick.  Spread the rose sauce on the cake. Serve.
