Yellow Sugar Glutinous Rice Balls Recipe

Yellow Sugar Glutinous Rice Balls are named TangBuShuai(糖不甩). It is one of the best snacks in Cantonese desserts. Although the ingredients are similar to sweet dumplings, the mouthfeel is unique-smooth and crispy.

Kitchen Tips

1. You can relace yellow sugar with brown sugar. When boiling sugar, the ratio of yellow sugar (brown sugar) and water should be 1:1.

2. You can top with raisin, marshmallow and any other candy on the top if you like.

Mix glutinous rice flour and wheat starch. Add warm water and it into a dough. Set aside.

Add a little water to a pot. Add yellow sugar. Simmer over low heat until thick. Turn off heat and set aside.

Knead the dough. Roll into long strips, then divided into small doughs. Use hand to make them into small dough balls.

Add water to a skillet. Bring to a boil and put in the small dough balls. Boil until balls float up. Continue to cook for another 1 minute. Remove cooked dough balls from the heat and drain.

Add the glutinous rice balls into the syrup(Step2). Simmer over low heat for 2 minutes.

Place glutinous rice balls on the plate. Pour on the syrup.  Sprinkle peanut and white sesame on the top. Enjoy!
