Steamed Sponge Cake Recipe
This simple sponge cake recipe (Fa Gao, in Chinese) is a popular snack for breakfast. You can find it as street food everywhere. Because of cheap ingredients and simple process, you can make it at home with a lot of fun.
10g baking powder
1. Do not remove the cover during steaming, or the cake cannot inflate.
2. The key to this recipe is to mix all ingredients well. The sponge cake is tender and fine with a light sweet smell.
Beat the eggs into a large bowl.
Add sugar and use an egg whisk to stir well.
Use low speed to stir at first. Then use high speed to stir until mix well.
Stir until stiff peaks form.
Add flour and baking into the egg mixture.
Stir until no granulated powder.
Place an oiled paper into a steamer. Pour the flour paste on the oiled paper. Flatten the paste. Use high heat to steam for 12 minutes. Let it rest until cool. Cut into small pieces. Serve.
