For a traditional char siu buns, this recipe is fast and simple. If you purchase dumpling skin and char siu from Asian markets, you can make these lovely buns in less than 20 minutes. The making process is really interesting and interactive with family.

Tips

1. When making the buns, rotate the top of buns to make it looks better.

2. Use fat char siu as the stuffing, because it makes buns juicer.

Add hot water into a skillet. Bring to a boil. Add wheat flour and flour into the skillet. Boil until cooked.

Remove the flour to a clean work surface.

Knead the dough until smooth and tender.

Roll the dough into a long strip. Divide the dough into 30g small dough.

Mince all char siu and chestnut powder into small pieces. Add all seasoning into the stuffing. Use dumpling skin to wrap the stuffing.

Place the buns into a steamer. Let it rest for 20 minutes. Use high heat to steam for 8 minutes. Serve.
