Ingredients

1/2 cup egg white
1.5 lbs of shrimp large or medium shrimp, peeled and deveined
1/2 cup walnuts
2 cup water
1 tbsp lemon juice
1 cup sugar
2 cups oil
1/2 cup cornstarch
2 tbsp honey
2 tbsp mayonnaise
1/2 condensed milk

Honey Walnut Prawns Recipe

This recipe is found in both Hong Kong and western restaurant. It is popularly known as Honey Walnut Shrimp.

  • You can put less sugar if you don’t like too sweet.
  • Shrimp is easy fried burnt. Put more attention on the colour change when cooking it.
  • You can add broccoli or lettuce to cook. It will be yummy and look great.

Rinse walnuts in the water

Heat 2 cups oil for about 2 minutes or until almost smoking, then deep fry walnuts until they are shiny and brown, and place walnuts to the cookie sheet, wait until cool down

Mix egg whites and cornstarch together to form a thick, sticky texture and mix well with shrimp and set aside

In a medium bowl, mix honey, lemon juice, mayonnaise and condensed milk until well smooth

Heat oil until boiling, then deep fry the shrimp for about 2 minutes or until it turns golden brown, then drain and fold in honey mayonnaise mixture. Mix well, sprinkle with walnuts, and arrange on a platter. Sever and enjoy
